- Brief Company History of Dunlop
John Dunlop, a Scottish Veterinarian, started Dunlop in 1889. It is now owned 75% by Goodyear Tire Company and 25% by Sumitomo Rubber Industries. Dunlop is heavily known for its racing tires and was the sole supplier to the British Touring Car Championship from 2003-2006 and has been the sole supplier to the V8 Supercars Championship since 2002. Dunlop also supplies tires to the American Le Mans Series and the Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters.
