The Firestone Company was started in 1900 in Akron, Ohio. It was one of the largest suppliers of tires for three quarters of a century along with Goodyear its rival. Henry Ford even chose Firestone tires for the model T in 1906. In 1988 Bridgestone bought Firestone. The company is now technically called Bridgestone/Firestone.
